Ontological Foundations of the Concept of the State

Lately there was an active discussion of the fact that the role and importance of the state in the modern world is increasing dramatically, and considering the current trends, we should expect to maintain these increasing indicators in the future. What is the state, what is its essence, and what main features should it are also the subject of discussion. When talking about the mentioned issue, it is necessary to note that some amount of works were devoted to the discussion of current state concept, role and functions, where such great thinkers as: Plato, Aristotle, Cicero, Machiavelli, Hobbes and others actively discussed the ambiguities surrounding the essence of the state and presented their very own visions of it.
